Reggie White, the greatest defensive lineman that ever played died of a heart attack at age 43. that's sad. I know there are some Packer and Eagles fans on here. He also played for my Panthers for a year.
Yeah, I heard about that. Sorry to hear...even if he played for the Packers.
I read that the average lifespan of NFL lineman is 45 (usually heart problems). I read hints of lung problems, but still amazing.
This is very sad for me. It reminds me of my father-in-law who played college football and 11 years in pro football (Eagles, Redskins and Lions) He had his first heart attack not long after retirement. He was in his mid forties. He died from a sudden heart attack in his early 60's just 3 months before he was inducted into the National College Football Hall of Fame.
A big part of Reggie Whites condition was caused by Sleep Apnea, I have heard reports that it was untreated. I urge anyone with symptoms of sleep apnea to ask for a sleep study, my husband has sleep apnea and it is nothing to fool around with.
Birdy, I didn't hear that. My husband has that and has to sleep with a machine that pushes the room air through his nose to keep his air passages open. He hates it but, I make him use it anyway. It's a serious problem that can be easily treated.
In wisconsin where reallying taking ti rough, my mom got a foot ball signed by him, he went to eat a The 300 Club which is a restraunt at miller stadium, my mom is a waitress there, hes a great guy she says! left s 70% tip on a $800 meal!
Not only was he one of the greatest defensive players of all time, but he was one of the best examples of how athletes should inspire and give back to the community. Take away his speach he gave after his first retirement at Greenbay and he was the model for a rolemodel, and that is hard to come by in sports today. My dad suffers from the same sleeping disorder and it causes him to stop breathing close to 100 times a night. He is also on the same machine that helps him breath at night, but him being over weight still causes him to have a lot of trouble breathing.
