The SUN folks. thats right the one and only source of valuable light on this earth.
another new idea!
just a brainstorm so let me know what you think.
this is applyed to inwall tanks best i would assume.
useing skylights and filters.

i would use any blue filters with over 60% light transmission and one UV filter at the bottom of the page. these filters are cheap and easy to replace.
you would also get some amount of season cycle as with moon cycle and storm effects!!
why has no one thought of this before?

Yeah, this type of project has been around for a while. It is a great idea you had, even if some have had it before you - you did not know.

but the only downside is the permanence and the issue explaining to a real estate agent when you go to sell your home,,, its mood lighting, lol

That's what tangs are for

I would never put a tang in my tank.. Tangs are THEE WORST fish ever for a reef tank.

Not trying to disagree with you, but do you have any reason behind this?

They get large, break SPS colonies, eat LPS and softies sometimes and usually are not given the tank size that they need. Most of them are super prone to disease and belong in the ocean... not to mention they can be a-holes.

Yeah, reefs and reef tanks are two different things. They can eat all sorts of stuff... acan lords, brains, zoas, palys, favia, chalice etc etc etc etc.... I haven't seen any eat SPS really, just break tips and branches when spooked or fed.
