Ok the first pic, is a piece of lava rock that my fiance's grandmother gave me. Its been in the tank for about 4 weeks now. I did a soaking of the rock for about two weeks, I also boiled it before I added it. Four weeks later I noticed it has some dark brown stuff on the top of it. Is that something I should be concerned about? Should I remove the Rock. The other pictures are of my new hermit crab and my starfish. My Hermit crab sure can climb. I dont even know how he got on my heater, let alone to the top

Lave rock is not good you should take it out. Too many metals and other elements that will harm your tank.

it sorta looks like its falling apart sorta dissolving, but none the less i would take it out like already stated it has many things in it that could harm the things in your tank
i love your star it has really nice color to it

Ok ill go pull it out right now. Ill have to try and distract Leonard, cause my aquarium gloves didnt come in today. So hopefully I dont get stung.

Yes it is the live rock. I guess. Dont look like to much is alive. But you know. what can you do.
