The newbie gets a surprise

You can imagine my surprise when the "rock" my Ric was attached to, turned out to be something a little bit different. I've peeked inside, but I see sand/gravel attached to the inside. Does this mean the clam/mussel was indeed dead, but just opened due to decomp/pressure? I've had "them" for about a 2 weeks now.
Question: What on earth do I do about this? LOL

Leave it, glue it to a rock, or break it apart and attach a smaller portion to a rock.
I want to get more rics.

try to move it.. if it quickly shuts, it is alive. if it is alive good for you. Most are filter feeders some even feed on nitrates

doesnt look alive to me... looks pretty hollow inside nice ric btw
