Hopefully this takes off..
My Question is:
Does having eggcrate on the bottom of the tank help at ALL?
- Stabilizing LR, specifically

It will reduce the stress of the weight of your rock resting on the bottom glass of your tank by spreading the load. If you add sand then place the rock on the sand your livestock may tunnel under it causing a rockslide possibly damaging coral or hurting the tunneler. I use it under all my large rocks.

i wouldn't think it would help anything. i have never used it and have a 12" engineer goby who tunnels regularly, and have never had an issue. i think finding a way to anchor the rock together is more effective than putting something under it.

Question:
Is there any rule for the amount of lighting you need for sps...like watts per gallon (which is false), but more advanced?

it would probably be minimum lumens or PAR at the desired hieght, or ideally at the sand bed, the lowest point a coral could be.
