The Rebuild of my 180 Begins!! And Continues!!

A lot of you followed along my other thread regarding my catastrophic failure of my tank...you can see that thread here:
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/367131/big-trouble-help-quick
Anyway...the new tank is being delivery Friday at 10AM so my rebuild has begun!! One good thing about this entire situation is that I now have a blank slate to start over with. I've only lost 1 fish in this disaster...my Orange-Spotted Goby...jumped out of my 55, right through the egg crate I had on top.
I already have about 80 gallons of RO ready to go in the tank and I've cleaned all my sand...this is what it looked like whn I got it all out of the tank:

I cleaned my entire sump, skimmer, piping, etc. I also ordered new 14K Phoenix bulbs and the Vortech MP40 upgrade kits in order to upgrade my PH's to the wireless MP40w units.
So stay tuned...more to come!! Can't wait to get everything up and running again!!

it sucks that your old tank took a dump, but like you said it's a chance to change the things you didnt like about the old setup. speaking of which- what ARE you doing differently?

This is the worst part!! Waiting for the RO to fill a 180!!!
Good thing I had about half the water already made.

Well having a bunch of time to think about it....I'm really not going to change much. Everything was working perfectly so why fix something that isn't broken.
I do want to figure out how to get a refugium attahed to the tank. Set up my auto top off unit and make the rockwork more coral friendly. My original tank wasn't set up for corals, but my neighbor has given me at least 15 different SPS pieces and 5 LPS pieces...all for nothing. So theis one needs to be more friendly to corals.

Lookin good
.This reminds me of scsInets 180 build
SCSI's build is a lot more involved and detailed than mine
I wish I knew how to put things together like he does!!
BTW...still filling

Plumbing is all hooked up. Didn't have to change much as this tank is set up exactly the way the old one was!!

You and me both

How long has it been filling?
I had about 60 gallons of water already made....I added that in and have had my RO running since about 11:30AM. And I'm now about 3/4's of the way in the tank....still have the overflows and the sump to fill....plus all the plumbing. I'll probably stop it before the sump is full to factor in the rock and sand displacing some of the water.
My RO unit is rated at 75/GPD.

Good looking tank and stand.
Are you adding sand and rock from an existing tank or you gonna have to cycle it? Cycling kills me....I am WAY too impatient....lol

I have the rock from my tank that cracked which has been in a trash can full of water, a pump and heater hopefully keeping it live. The sand I am reusing, but had to give that a really big freshwater cleaning as it was filthy!!

I'm hoping to be cycled in about 2-3 days, if even that long!!

What no fuge?have you given anythought to a ATS??
....
And is that a asm skimmer
I'm still trying to figure out the design for my fuge....I have had a bunch of thoughts in the past that I have posted here and another site and it just won't work. There really is no room in my sump to put a fuge so I was thinking about drilling the side of another tannk and connecting it to my sump through the 1 of the 2 ports of the side.
Not sure what you mean by ATS

And yes....it's an ASM G3 skimmer with the Sedra 5000 pump. I did the enkamat mod of the impeller.

I see the bulk head now
Algae turf scrubber.
and i tell you what, I woke up like five times a couple nights ago to my skimmer makin this horrible grinding noise so i kinda tinkered with it,but come to find out the next morning one of the zip ties holdin the mesh to the impeller wheel somehow came off and the mesh was flopin around in the pump, but anyways i put the stock pinwheels back in and man is that thing rockin some skimate. It's like a brand new skimmer i couldn't belive it,cause i thought the mesh wheels were suppose to pull more scfh right. And its about 100x quiter

I think i remember telling you when you bought the skimmer, that the meshwheels may pull a little more air but they were noisy and unreliable as compared to the pinwheels???? lol
