The sex of a Clarkii clown

Not really. As adults, the females are noticable larger than the male if you have a pair of them.
However, if you get an adult male and put it in a tank without a female, it will become female. Females do not turn to males though.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 40g tank with a 3" Clarkii clown in it and I just added a 1-1/2" Clarkii to the tank. The two are getting along great, swimming together, at night when the lights are off, they are together single file with the larger clown in front. I really wanted to introduce this second Clarkii clown now while it was young in hopes that it had not changed --- yet. I would have normally had it in my QT tank longer than 1 week, but curiosity got the better of me. I am thrilled these two clowns are not fighting and are getting along like pals. I hope to add a BTA in late summer after I am certain that my tank has remained stable and has had several months of seasoning.
My tank will only have the following when I am done: 2 Clarkii clowns, 1 BTA, 1 LMB, 1 coral beauty angel, and 2 chromis and my clean-up crew. I will add some soft corals, but that is all I will do with regards to corals. I do not want to overcrowd my tank and have taken into consideration the adult size of these fish when deciding what to have in my tank.
