the start of a new tank.

I have read about all the stuff that i need to start a tank, but money is a problem for me..... I wont soft corals and shrooms and stuff like that. my personal tank is a 40gal.
I have a proteen skimmer and a large hang on filter, I have herd that bio-weels are good.
Im in the prosess of bilding a my own sump out of a 10 gal and it seems to be going well. but what are the best things that i need to just grow soft coral.

Lighting is #1, but you only need Power Compact (PC) for Softies.
Just make sure your parameters are good as well (and you're out of any cycle) and you should be fine.
