And you could always look forward to breaking that tank down when you graduate. :p
Lol very true... I will buy myself a really big tank as a grad gift once I get a job... :S
I'm happy with what I have for now- 10 gallon 29 biocube and the 75 which I'm paying $100 for that include tank stand and canopy as well as sump filtration and anything else they have... I just need a good protein skimmer and lights... eb@y time!!!

well finally set up the tank and all the fish are doing great...
Only problem is that I think I am going to need a bigger pump to circulate more water and maybe add some powerheads to the system. also I would like to get better lights and some moon lights to match my other aquarium.
other than that the tank looks great. like I said in another post I have, I dont know how to post pics
I would put some up but yeah......

lol to post a picture, get it from the camera onto the computer (you know how to do that, right?). Go to an image hosting site like tinypic.com, click browse, find the image, upload it, and then paste the code with the

Hey CBJ
I have a GSP too! Mine started life as a freshwater at walmart.
He was very thin and brown in color with most of his fins missing.
I took him home, named him Mr. Nipps and after about a year converted him to full on SW. He was brackish before.
Since then he has gained a lot of mass and has a very out going personality. Hes a happy survivor.
Very green/yellow now :)

same story for mine lol... I picked it up at walmart and converted him to SW... not only did I save this poor animal from eventually dying at walmart but it was considerably cheaper than what what LFS is asking for GSPs.
How were you able to get its fins from regenerating I tried with another that was in bad shape but unfortunatley it didnt survive :(
its sad what they do over there... they kill those fish slowly

Its really sad there. they have no buiness selling anything thats alive. I wanted to take all the little puffers home with me.
I didnt do anything in paticular to get lil Nipps to regenerate his fins. Maybe because he lived in Brackish for a year before I acclimated him to SW? I dont have any idea. Im just glad hes doing Ok.
The one downside to having him SW is he used to love to munch the snails that came home on plants with me and helped keep his teeth filed down. I have not yet found any SW snails that he likes to munch on or is able. He cant seem to break open any SW snail shells.
Maybe when he gets bigger. How big is your GSP? Does it have a name?

I just call it puffy he/she is almost 2 1/2 inches
I guess mine keeps its teeth in shape from trying to get at my hermit crabs... lol
I was thinking of getting another one but that would really overstock my tank more than it is right now

I think thats probablly how mines teeth are kept in shape.
Its funny how they zero in on the hermits and snails. Mine picks up the hermits and snails and tries to crunch on them. carries then around for a bit and spits them out. Then repeat.
Mines about the size of a golf ball. just as round too! Does yours keeps its tail hooked? Mine does.
Any Idea why they do that?

wow he's huge!
from what I have read they say they hook their tails and kinda hover in place when they are either sick or tired... from what you tell me yours seems to be happy so it might be that its tired from chasing after the snails and hermits.
mine has been doing that the last couple days but I am guessing it's because its stressed from all the changing from one tank to another... just glad its finally done!
do you have a pic of yours? its too early to tell but I think since I have placed mine in a 75 gal I think its getting bigger

Ill try to get a pic of him tonight. He always seems to come out blurry even tho he barly moves.

I think your right about the stress and the tail thing. Mine tends to darkin a lot when hes stressed too. I cant say Nipps always has his tail hooked because Im not there watching him all the time...unfortunatly
Sometimes its straight with his fin extendid, sometimes his fin is collapsed. othertimes his whole tail is hooked. But his side fins are always going like a humming birds. :)
A long time ago I had a FW GSP that was the size of a pencil eraser and he used to use his tail like a seahorse and hook to plants and such. Who Knows. They are cool little guys tho.
Have you ever been nipped? I have. little buggers got some chompers!

I hope mines not sick, he just kinda drifts around. He can move when he wants to tho.
I almost flung him across the room when he nipped me. At least my reflexes are still up to par I guess.
Is The Show any good? Ive been playing The Bigs.
PS3 or Xbizzle?

yeah they say you can get their attention and they will stop the curling of the tail
and ps3... yeah it is really good I just do not like the fact that they make a new one every year lol because now 2010 is out and it looks great...
but back to fish... lol what kind of set up do you have? I have a 75 gal with my GSP, white spotted grouper and niger trigger, a 29 gal biocube with one yellowtail damsel (still dont know what else to put in there) and a 10 gal ghost shrimp tank
