They waved the white flag

I think it is good news as well. But, just because the Dems are going to let it expire doesn't really mean they wave the white flag... It just means that they are voting "present" so that any one of them can later on say that they were for, or against off shore drilling to meet what ever political needs they might have later on, without actually having to commit to the idea...

But, I personally don't care how it comes about, I just want cheaper fuel, whatever the means!

less expensive would be good, independence from foreign countries great, and finding alternative supplements to oil.......even better.

It pretty much is a white flag, from the infamous nancy ranting, "we are trying to save the planet" they don't get any federally imposed restrictions, they don't get to hike oil company taxes. And we now have access to 19 billion barrels of oil.

The real question is, how long it will last... and how bad will the tree huggers try to sue the oil peoples pants off.

im not really for it because ive seen what they can do to wild life, but if they can keep it from spilling ( i mean not one drop gets out) it would be nice.

In the gulf if mms catches you tossing a cigarette butt off the rig, you're talking thousands of dollars of fines. And they go down current to check.

correction, the oil companies
have access to millions of barrels more that are put on the world market and sold off to other countries. We don't keep anything unless it is extracted by a nationalized oil company, owned by us the taxpayers. Kind of like what Jugo Chavez did in Venezuela
. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the guy. But when he kicked out the oil companies and nationalized the resources Venezuela was able to become "energy independent". Kind of makes you think.

You did point out a misnomer, (that i didn't use) of course it will be sold on a world market. And oil will leave the usa. and money will come in.
I don't see what the problem is. Oil companies will hire people, buy stuff, pay people, and those people go out and buy stuff, pay for stuff and so on and so forth. It is called capitalism.

Much of it won't leave the states. It is significantly cheaper to just pipe the oil, vs tanking and shipping the oil in, in the long run. More capitalism.
hugo chavez didn't make venezuela energy independent. He let "oil companies" build everything, then when they were close to done, he stole it.
