Okay, I have a 125 gallon FOWLR tank. I am currently looking for a protein skimmer. Okay here is where I think I messed up. I have 6 inches between the wall and the back of my tank. Also if you can see in the pic, my light canopy is flush with the back of the wall. Where the top of the tank and the bottom of the canopy meet, there is a 3 inch opening running all the way across(it's cut out). Hopefully you know what I mean. I need help trying to find a protein skimmer to fit my tank in the back. Please help...

If you have a sump then drop the skimmer down below. If it has to be on the back you will need to notch the hood a little to get it to fit and might have to pull out the tank a little. Check out the Octopus skimmers to specs and better ideas

If you don't have a sump...
I did this once, I used a really cheapo skimmer called Cyclone it is very skinny, but does not work all that great. For fish only it should be fine, at least it is something.
When I moved, I made sure to leave 8 inches between the wall and tank.
The only other thing you can do is break it down and reposition the tank. Save all the water, rock and fish in tubs..it would be a shock to the fish but not all that bad, do it during a water change. (rock and fish in seperate tubs)

I have the same thing. Cyclone/Sea Clone. It should fit back there. I didnt mention it as it is an ok skimmer if you can get it to work right. I ended up getting an Octopus skimmer and I can even give the old one away.

OKay, I just thought of something. On the right hand side of the tank, the tank partially covers my front room window. If I put the skimmer in that position which I know I can, I still will probably have to cut a more vertical notch but it gives my about 12 inches deep on space to play with now. 12 inches between the back of the tank and the window glass. What skimmer should I get for my 125 gallon tank? I have about $150-$200 to spend on a skimmer. Thanks again......

I like the Reef Octopus BH1000 Hang on the Back Skimmer but they arent rated for a 125 but might still work. I love the Octopus skimmers. Aqua Medic Turboflotor 1000 HO Protein Skimmer makes a skimmer for a 125g but I dont know anything about them.
