Thinkin about an aggresive tank

Hi, ive never had an aggresive tank before, just reef, so if what i am thinking about doing is ridiculous, please dont get all ticked off. that said, i was wondering if i could put a valentini puffer, 2 maroon clowns, and some sort of trigger in a 55gallon tank. If that is not possible, r there any other interesting stock lists that would work in a 55?

No to the trigger. That tank is too small for the life of the fish.
You could put a dwarf lion fish in there with a smaller angel like a pygmy angel or flame angel. Maybe a hawkfish or smaller wrasse.
Maroon clowns get huge for a clown and are mean as hell. I would tend to think they are too big for a 55 for anything else to settle in. They grow to around 6 inches. They would bully everything else around.
Id do a dwarf angel.
Angel Flame or pygmy
Smaller Wrasse.
For color and movement few green chromis.
maybe others can chime in. Im obsessed with angels and the lion would be pretty cool as a center piece fish

Could i get a humu humu trigger? ive read that they are very slow growing, and im intending to upgrade to a 100+ in a year or so. If so, could i keep anything with it till then, or would it have to be alone?

If you plan on upgrading then I wouldnt say no to a humu humu. Hell I saw a little guy at my lfs about 1.5 inches long. It was cool as hell. So much attitude all wrapped up in that little package. I have a humu humu and its my favorite of the 3 triggers I have in my 90 could also be I got him first. hahahaha
I have a blue spotted puffer withy my humu humu for a while. They were great together and still are even though I added the two other tirggers. Id still stay away from the Clowns in the 55. Then ignore the lion. Triggers and lions dont mix. As long as you upgrade in the next year. Everything takes time to grow. Any other ideas?

Can u mix triggers? could i have a humu humu and a clown trigger in the same tank? if so, could i get away with a humu humu, clown trigger, and a yellow tang for a year, or is that pushin it? I really want a humu humu trigger, there one of my favorite fish

No clown trigger in a 55. They get way to big and mean. They all eventually snap even if they are good for years. I would say that the clown trigger is one fish only meant for huge tanks.

ya, i think a 55 would be too small for a clown trigger, but i think you could add 2 maroon clowns

I dont see why not. Like I said I have the humu blue spotted mixture.
You can mix triggers. You need a bigger tank.
Id get a Zebra eel
Humu Humu
The puffer
Grow em up and then get your bigger tank. If you dont get a bigger tank than you will have issues. As long as you get them small. The fish under 3 inches and the eel around 8 - 12 inches they would all be fine in your tank for a year or so. What type of filtration? Id get atleast 60 pounds of LR for the tank.

upgrade first.

The humu humu grow slowly. I have had mine for a while and it has grown 1/2 inch. Nigers grow fast

Niger triggers are awesome and I think it may be a good selection for you as long as you plan to upgrade to a 100+ gallon system in the near future. Just get a small fry.... My lfs has some around 1'' long.

I would not get a humahuma and niger in a 55 unless you have already bought the tank to upgrade. Any two triggers in a 55 is going to be to much IMO.

Are Niger triggers slow growing like the humas or will i have less time to upgrade then with just the huma huma?

what if i get the humu humu trigger and the yellow tang for the 55, and then when i get the 100+ add the niger trigger? will that work out well?

100% with you there.
Once you get the othe rtank set up, I wouldnt go any smaller than 150, then get the Niger. If you get a 150 long and wide like some of these companies build you could keep a few triggers. I have 3 small ones in my 90. They will be put in a 220

Hmm... i never thought of keeping an eel... r they social or will i never see it? i really like the sound of that stock list. I already have all my live rock in my 55, and its already cycled. Right now, for filtration, i have a superskimmer 65 and one of those penguin bio-wheel filters(the actually bio-wheel things r out of itand its just temparary till i get a sump) and i wont be adding those fish till i get the sump. I was thinking about a DIY sump. Is this dificult to do? i was looking at somethings on them and they look pretty complicated...

hmm... i really like both stock lists:
Humu Humu trigger

Yellow Tang
or
Humu HUmu trigger
Zebra Eel
Dogfaced puffer
i dont know which one to choose, they both seem so appealing...

No Idea on the DIY. Cant be that hard. The Zebra eels. They will pop their head out and see whats up. They dont swim around a lot just like any other eel.
