Take this info from me, a guy with an over stocked tank and a crisis with nitrates:
Damselfish are a real

[hr]
to catch if you ever want to get rid of them, you most likely have to take all of your rock out to catch them!
Use the rule of thumb: 1 inch of fish per 5 gallons. I thought this rule was crazy and I learned the hard way.
Make sure you account for the full grown fish, not its current size. Many SW fish will live for 10 to 15 years with good care.
Your right about the damselfish. They like to be in schools. If you really want them, I go with 3.
IMO: I'd try to research some cool looking fish that stay relatively small and would be happy in your tank. I liked the damselfish too; however, now I don't want.

I tried the green chromis for a schooling effect. Two things I quickly discovered, chromis are dumb fish, and unless something was harrassing them they didnt school much. I started with a school of 7, now one survives. 3 to the anemone, 2 to pumps, 1 no idea.

I've done the blue/greens before and I agree with msd2... they are not the smartest fish in my tank... I started with 5 now all I have is 2.... 3 of them were bullied into my Green BTA by my tomato clown! I only have the 2 largest ones and can't wait for them to die!!!!
A cool schooling fish is the scissortail Dartfish/goby. I have 3 of them and they are alway front and center and alway together. the only thing is that they don't do much swimming... for the most part they stay in one section of the tank

I think it would be fine but if you but in 5 blue chromis ( Chromis cyanea ) they get 4 to 5 inches big and thats 5 other fish that you cant have or add later. Might want to just get 3. Nice looking fish though. All up to you.
I have 5 blue green ch. ( Chromis viridis ) already full grown to 3 inches and they are hungry little buggers but realy add color and constant movement in the tank. They are always out front and never bother anything esle other than each other but its a natural pecking order thing and noone is ever injured.
