I just got done purchasing some frags to get my tank started and then decided I needed to stop for awhile and let them grow. I found something I REALLY want and its sooooo beautiful but unless I am purchasing quite a few frags I dont want to spend $30 on shipping for one frag.
Is this something Im going to have to get over with this hobby or do ya'll do the same thing and wait until you want more then one to take advantage of shipping?

I always wait to place online orders until I have multiple things to buy. $30 shipping is fairly reasonable considering they are sending live animals overnight, but it's just more cost efficient to do one big order than multiple small ones.

find local reef club and see if anyone else around you can help with the order :)
One of the best things I have ever done!! Except I am never on here anymore

I got to goto Macna for free last year thanks to our Reef Club, Next month we have our huge frag meeting( by huge I mean we have over 600 members)
Members are always giving free frags away or for very cheap!!

The shipping stinks with live animals -- I try to make a good size order when I do -- or trade locally... there are more around here than I imagined but have to be careful of what tank they come out of and QT them unless you trust the other person's tank.
I've gotten free clowns from local people tearing down a tank and they hadn't added a fish in 6 months. I always worry about bringing in disease to my tank... and some people you just never know what they have in there. But yeah -- group ordering and trading saves money for a rare piece you just can't find anywhere else ;)
