This Fish Is ?

brought home from the beach by my kids. can someone tell me what kind of fish is it? it has a 'head fin' (?) and bright blue eyes. found in the seaweed & is very small.

Its a sargassum filefish. I saw the picture and figured you lived in FL because they are very easy to find if you pick up the seaweed that is floating out past the white caps. They tend to nip at other fish in the tank (experience talking haha) so just watch for that. They also tend to get stuck on the filter intakes very often and cannot free themselves. Just a few things to watch out for but they are very cool fish to watch.

it's an Thornback cowfish, yours looks like a juv. they are in the box fish family

I just got one of my fish magazines in that has an entire article on these. It's packed up, but when I get home I'll search for it and tell you what I can. I remember they are one of the easier ones to keep. Feed well and are reef safe. Be back tomorrow.
