last night I finally put my pink spot watchman sifter in the tank and here comes my falco hawkfish to kick his butt...he chased him all over my tank for 3 hours until it got dark and I couldn't see...the next day I come home for lunch and the hawk is still at it...the goby was now missing several pieces of fins...so I now took the goby back out of the tank and put him in QT until I figure out what to do with the hawk...and naturally as I was catching the goby he ran into my long spine urchin and now has a small piece of a barb from the urchin in his lip...this is just so frustrating lol

I guess it shows how important it is to have a list of fish u want and an order in which they should be added...although the compatibility charts that I have seen say Hawks and gobies should have no issues

I will likely be taking the hawk out although I really like him "or did" because I'd rather have a sifter and not only that the hawk seems to be a little bit aggressive at times to others

Done with my rant for the day

Doing all the research in the world still doesn't make all fish compatible. Its generally why I mix small fish w big non aggressive fish lol. I have a great mix in 2 of my 3 sw tanks. The other not so much thanks to a nasty pseudo, even rabbit fish where harassed

yeah I will be moving the hawk to the sump for a while...maybe after I get all the peaceful fish in he can come out and play...that means he may be on a looooong time out in the sump lol

your right though jay...no matter how much u research each fish has a mind of its own so you will never know until the time comes I guess...lots of odd pairings in the world of animals

well kind of lol except bad timing on his part...just got a new kessil 150 light on the tank yesterday so he will be missing the good life lol plus he will be limited to one chamber so I hope he thinks about what he did! ;)

so far I love it...my water flow appears to shimmer so much more then before...and they really aren't all that blue which to me gives it a more natural look rather then so much of the blue lights...not only that they are a nice clean look for the tank...

I assume there isn't much I can do for my goby and the couple spines that are in him? they are very small pieces maybe a quarter inch long, one is near his left gill and one is kind of sticking into the very top of his head above his eyes...like I said they aren't really sticking out so theres no way really to grab them with tweezers or anything plus I would probably do more harm then good...he doesn't seem to be acting any different and the breathing is normal and he is showing no stress signs...I just feel pretty bad for him and hope he's not in pain..im hoping they work themselves out of him kind of like splinters work there way out of our skin?

It is the natural color that drew me to them.

Not sure about the goby. If you caught him not sure you'd be able hold him to pull them out. Time will tell as to how he does. I'd watch for an infection.
