This is so upsetting!!

I have a friend who recently started a saltwater tank. Its a 55 gal with 35 lbs of live rock and about 40lbs crushed coral. She has been adding fish to the tank quite regularly. damsels, yellow tang, watchman goby, lawnmower blenny, mandarine, 2 brittle stars, emerald crabs, scarlet and blue leggs, sally lightfoot. She went to the lfs today to purchase an anenome and ended up purchasing a porcupine fish instead. I tried to explain that he will eat anything smaller than him and that she should consider returning him. Her reply was well, I really don't care about the damsels or the snails and crabs. I can totally understand why the sharks on this board often get frustrated with some of us and our decisions. I tried everything to help her to understand what could happen and it didn't seem to matter to her. I just wanted to share with you and maybe get some advise or personal experiences you have had.

Hey Playtime,
As sure as the sun will rise there are people who do not do any research on the fish they keep. I have been in many disagreements with people who buy any fish that seems to catch their eye. Yes it is very upsetting to me too. It is too bad for the tankmates. Good luck with your battle. Jim

Now you know how I feel. Think about all those times when stubborn people just won't listen to us sharks and their fish goes belly-up. J/K ;) However, it is very disheartening to see someone not take advice seriously, especially when you know whats going to happen. It's too bad, but there are just some people who are too stubborn to deal with. But, at least you warned her but if she won't listen, let her learn the hard way. Sorry to say that because I don't like to hear of fish dying anymore than you do, but it's a cold, hard reality that some people have to learn the hard way.

playtime; All I can add is when she tells you some time how much trouble she is having in her tank with things dieing and others being devoured just remind her she was warned. This is the type that will exit salt in time and claim it is impossible to have a tank work right.
