This is what I am going to get in the next couple of weeks!
For my tank I'm going to get a 12 gallon eclipse.
I'm going to upgrade the light to somethign stronger if i can.
I am going to get around 15-20 lb of live rock and 1-2 inches of live sand.
For livestock I am getting a true perculia clown, a Mandrin, and a Bangaii. I am also getting a shrimp or crab other than my clean-up crew. Any suggestions?
I don't know how many of what I need for my clean up crew so if you could tell me that would be great.
If any objections to this purchase, speak now or forever hold your peace.
O yea, it may not seem like much but if I make a nice mini reef maybe my parents will start to get interested and get me a 50 gallon without making me pay:D

DO NOT get a mandarin with a brand new tank, you need at least 100 lbs of rock with a ton of pods. This fish will die a nasty slow death in your tank. You need to do more research on the fish you have selected.

Also, I would go for a pair of mated percs. clowns are great fish. I don't know anything about the bangaii.

Is this tank already set up and cycled? If new, NO MANDARIAN please, and why not go for some false percs? (nicer, attitude wise). A mated pair will be about all you can get in a 12 gall. and of course, some snails and such. HTH

No this tank is not running but this is what I was planning......I would want more then just one type of fish. Atleast 2 if not 3.

Do not get a mandarian. you need lots of live rock to keep one alive and with a 12 gallon you should stick to 2 small fish, snails and crabs. I would not get an anemone either.

You need 2 or 3 or 1 lb per gallon inches of sand.... And whatever fish you get make sure they are docile not much breathing room for them.
Get 3 green chromis

The general rule that I have come across is 3 at a minimum 5 is better gallons of water per inch of fish. You want a 12 gallon tank then not more than 4 inches of fish in the tank. Remember also that these fish will grow, so you will want less than 4 inches to start.
You might consider getting a larger tank. I would suggest at least 30 gallons.
I am also with the others about the Mandarin. No mandarin without live sand and live rock in a tank that has been established for a minimum of 6 months.
Be patient and do lots of research, the more the better. Knowledge will never hurt you.
Just my opinion.
