So i moved my 14 foot albino burmese out of a 55 gallon temp tank to his real cage today and just for dumps and giggles i filled the 55 gallon with water.... you know what happened. for some reason i reached for the glass right before the tank split open and it cut my two middle fingers on my left hand wide open. severed the tendons in both fingers. i have no feeling in either one above the cut. i go to see a handsurgeon tommorow morning bright and early. If your squeamish dont bother looking at the pics cuz they are that bad. these are right before i got stitches. 6 in my middle finger and 4 in my ring finger.

with stitches. hurts like hell. got a rx for vicoden and some antibiotic but it still hurts, just now im higher than a kite. i dont like this feeling....

you see what this dang hobby led me to do? i just wanted a 55 gallon and now i cant use my hand....

mmmmmmmmm! vicoden.... Sorry about the 55 .The good new is someone else will have to clean it up if you play your card right .

haha i already did. believe me, im a master at milking it. still hurts pretty bad though. i had 6 shots of lydocaine in the hand and a shot of morphine in the ass, not to mention all the vicoden i have already taken since i got home.

that looks pretty bad. Did you lose alot of blood? My Friend picked up a full 10 gal tank and the bottom blowed his pinky off. It was pretty cool but he didnt think so.

the first 15 seconds or so i lost a lot of blood. but my girlfriend was there and she brought me a towel and told me to hold it above my head. she is a godsend. i almost blacked out like 3 times. i was sweating and cold and shaky, we made it to the hospital in about 12 minutes and they actually didnt make me wait too long. my girl was freaking out the wholeway there, she was worse off than i was. the only thing i remember about the ride there was me wanting to stop at 7-11 to get a drink... lol i was really thirsty.

This is funny. Not that you cut yourself, that sucks. But this is prolly the only non sport related hobby that would cause an injury like that. And why I hafta laugh is, in the name of education, troubleshooting, prevention and research, you grab a camera and make a documentary.
See... Now this is progress. Thanks to you, many of us will not use a terrarium as a tank.

A lot of people keep other pets in old fish tanks, including me

If your not squeamish and like to look at gross pictures I can post a couple of a man that was split in half at the waste. he hit the back of a stopped tractor trailer he was speeding and was drunk the ICC bumper cut him in half at his belly just above his belt.....totally gross

Not squeamish here, but maybe that's another thread in the Aquarium section

well that'd hafta go in the aquarium if they do allow it. This post is "hobby beneficial" the drunk guy is just gory.

It was a terrarium because it currently contained a snake. Add water and some fish and Voila! you have an aquarium. (albeit one with a faulty seal!!)
I call the tanks my snakes live in terrariums even though they would hold fish just fine.

lots of tanks for reptiles are not built to hold water. my sister gave me a 20g i was going to use as a sump but once i cleaned it out it said right on the bottom DO NOT FILL WITH WATER
