"Majano"-We all no what it is right? Well, I had an outbreak. maybe 30 or 40 all over my reef. My peppermint shrimp weren't taking care of business, so I resorted to plan B. I made up a paste with hot water and Kalkwasser and injected each one of those suckers right in the stem. It's very effective. they all seemed to be gone. I did it over about a week's time so as not to introduce too much kalk at one time. Here's the best part!! A few day's later both of my decorator crabs are right in front with 3-4 majano's proudly on their back!! I'm figuring that I have to get both crabs out or they will spread this stuff endlessly. While I'm planning my attack one of the crabs gets up on a rock high in the reef. I quickly prepared a syringe with my "magic juice" and that little devil sat there and let me inject the 4 majano's as though he knew what I was doing and he wanted them dead more than I did. I'm waiting for the other decorator to be just as co-operative or I'll have to get him out to clean him off. Stay tuned for "the rest of the story".

I had one of those crabs years ago and he tore the head off of a baby lawnmower. He was out of there minutes later. I don't know what a majano is?

Stay tuned-I sense there are some doubters out there.

I'm skeptical, could it be maybe that the crabs molted and changed shells to Ones that had mojano on them? or did the mojanos caught the crabs sleeping?
Are this mojanos or aiptasias??

Majano is a type of Aptasia- Tulip and majano are not the same- Decorator crabs pick off polyps, zoo's or other items and put them on their back, thus the name "decorator crab". Mine have never bothered other than a small frag of something, no real damage. The "Majano" highjacking was a first for me. No pics of the other one yet, but I will get some. Stay tuned.

Yes they are all anemones. Tulip and majano are not the same. Tulip has pink tips. Peppermint shrimp will not help you with tulip. Nonetheless, they are all "bad" types of Anemones in that they spread like wildflower and some sting quite a bit. They don't move around like most anemones. They usually find a hole in rock and stay right there. There are many ways to get rid of them but like I said, that would be a whole new thread.

Nor is majano a type of aiptasia.
Aiptasia aka glass anenome/Glassrose anenome. is from the Aiptaslidae family, common species are Aiptasia pallida and A. pulchella.
Now,
Majano is aka Anemonia cf. majano and its from a totally different family(Actiniidae).
The reason why some peeps think majano is a type of aiptasia, its because majano & aiptasia are both weedy pest anenomes with similar carectaristics, & similar remedies. Although majanos tend to have swollen colored
tentacle tips..
Correct me if i'm wrong.. But i want reliable articles to prove it..

reading this post has got me a little worried it sounds like these things are pests and i think I may have picked one up from a friend that gave me a chunk of live rock :( i am having trouble taking a good picture of it becuase its clear!!!! but I found this picture on google and it looks exactly like this but mine is clear, how do i get rid of these if they are a pest.
