thistle worms

These spiky worms can hurt us if we try to move rocks and touch them. But do they hurt other creatures? Is there any way to get rid of them? Do any inverts or fish eat these?

Bristle worms are great to have in a tank. They are detritivores and will keep food from rotting in your tank. If you see them eating a dead animal, the animal was prabably dead before they found it. They wont hurt any other animals. There a good thing.
If you want to get rid of them for some reason, you can drill some small holes in a peice of PVC pipe and put some mysis shrimp in it and put that in overnight, then in the morning take it out and dump the worms. Animals off the top of my head that eat bristle worms are 6 line wrasse, arrow crab (will eat smaller inverts), and i think the coral banded shrimp (eats smaller inverts as well) will eat them.

The larger bristle worms are the ones that hurt. Ive touched a bunch of small ones when picking up rocks, its more or a irritation, like getting a splinter in your finger. If you do happen to get one, dont try to pluck it out, just get a piece of tape and put it ontop of the area and pull, that should remove the bristle.
Fireworms on the otherhand are nasty critters, might want to read up on them just incase you ever see one.
