Hey Thomas712, I've been reading the past posts and it seems like your pretty good with anemones and clowns. I'm looking into getting an anemone and 2 clowns. My question is which anemone and clowns. I have a 55 gal with 4x65 PC. They are 2 10000k/6500k and 2 dual actinics. I read a post earlier about condi anemones but my lfs person said that the condis aren't natural hosts for clowns. I thought I read earlier also that hatian anemones are ok with the lower lights also. Is this true and which clowns does it work well with. I would like to get either ocellaris or percula clowns but my lighting limits me as to which anemone I can support. I'm planning on putting like 4 10000k PC bulbs in and using my regular flourescent hood that came with the tank for a actinic bulb. What do you think? Anyone else with info its appreciated. Thanks

If you want to get an anemone then I would recommend a BTA. They are pretty tolerant, eat pretty easily, are ok with medium lighting and could even split in your tank....:)

Ya I talked to my LFS guy and also checked SWF.com and they both suggest strong lighting. The LFS had one in like a 10 gal setup and it was on the glass located at the very top of the tank and he was running PC or T5 on it(cant remember which) so he said that I would be on the edge of enough lighting for a BTA. He also said that I should pick out the type of clowns I wanted then get an anemone that would suit the clowns.

I look at the condy as a poor choice myself, I did an article on them and asked the members here if they had any success with clowns and the Condy, I only got a couple of responses. Fact is there are so many who purchase the Condylactis anemone and they wind up dieing in just a few months for many reasons, or they never host with whatever clownfish they have. Your LFS is correct they are not natural hosts with any clownfish as they are from the atlantic ocean and clowns are from the pacific.
I think your lighting would meet the minimum requiremtents to keep one or better a E.Quad or Bubble tip anemone, I had success with only 4.22 watts per gallon. Try to find a tank raised BTA or RBTA. The choice of True or False percs is fine for E.Quads, they don't host these fish in the wild but I have seen it done many times in home aquariums.
I have many BTA's and a couple of mated False Percs. I've been raising the BTA's for over 4 years now and I have had the clowns for over 3 years, have not gotten around to trying to raise there young yet.
As to your bulbs mix and match as you please, I like a combo of the white and actinics, but I have no practical experience with the PC bulbs.
