I picked up a bulk reef supply dual chamber GFO/Carbon reactor,
with the high quality media they recommend on their site.
My question is how often do I change the media in the canister?
Is there a way to check?

You can test for phos and see where it is. Once you notice it going up you can change it out. I have heard that some can go up to 3 months depending on the brand of stuff you use and your tank

For the phospate, you will get any where from 2 weeks to a month depaending on your feeding schedule. As already stated get a test kit and moniter as needed. Charcol on the other hand sould last at least 6 weeks.
