Thought I could be a feather duster but it casts a web.

Please help I thought it may be a feather duster. What ever it is it casts a net. It also brought in the net when food landed on it. It kind of reminds me of a trap door spider. It has a hard piece no it that can seal the tube and it has little legs that bring in the Web.

What you might be seeing is a release of gametes which I believe is how they reproduce.

I don't know I sat there and watched it bring in what looked like a spider Web it even has little lags that pulled it in

Apparently, there are other members of the polychaete classification that cast webs of mucus to catch their food instead of having the quintessential crown that we are accustomed to finding in the hobby.

I didn't know that before. They build tubes and are Annalids (segmented body) like feather dusters. Just without the feathers.

Looks like vermetid snail to me

Thanks that what it was I ended up removing it it got to big and began effecting corals
