thought my BTA was dead...

Well, I came home from work yesterday only to find what i thought was a dead RBTA. It was currled up in a ball and the tentacles that I could see were deflated and lifeless looking. Having only had it since Sunday and thinking it was dead or on its way out, I took out the turkey baster and tried getting it out from the hole that it was in. After a couple attempts, i quit becasue i figured he wasn't completely dead yet and still had a decent grip. Well to my dismay, i came back an hour later to find his tentacles bubbled and he was looking as normal as ever.
Was it normal for him to be currled up like that, because it did not look healthy at all? (i hadn't fed since the previous day, and lights had been on for five hours) Any guesses on what he was doing?

Very normal, providing it wasnt exhibiting this behavior for more than a couple of days. It was prob eating or expelling waste, they look funky when they do this.

no, when i first put him in he walked around for a few hours until he found a cave to hide in. the next day he came out and has been in the same place since. well i'm glad it's normal, so i don't freak out next time. lol, i couldn't even get mad when i thought it was dead. lol, all i can due is laugh anymore, because i'd be suicidal if i got upset everytime i lost money as a result of this hobby.

I agree, although its good practice to get to know your anemone and its habits. A dead anemone is not a good thing in any tank, there are no inhabitants that like to eat them and they decay rather quickly causing a rather quick spike in your levels.
I currently have a hypo tank set up for my fish that had ich.. they have been in hypo 10gal for 4 weeks now. Unfortunatly a 10gal tank is small for 5 fish and I lost all but 1...
my favorite 2 true percs didnt make it I was indeed upset.

that sucks. i want a pair of true percs as well. unfortunately, i have to wait until my new tank gets here next week, before i purchase anything else. My current 125 is a little older and not drilled, so a couple weeks ago i decided to buy an entire new drilled tank/stand combo. I'm defin not looking forward to all that plumbing, but it will be worth it in the end.
Lol, this hobby is definitely not for the weak hearted.
