i think my 2.5" maroon clown doesnt like his 20g tank anymore, i just noticed him jumping into my light plastic guard..
have u ever seen a shark thrash as they chase a fish at the surface of the water, he did that also today and got me wet. whats going on? when my salt was real low he was doing this but i did a water change and it was back on track, got any ideas?

What are your water parameters? I hear that the smaller the tank, the more precise you have to be.
salinity
nitrates
nitrites
ammonia
temperature
How long have you had the tank
is he eating well?
what else is in the tank
have you recently added anything?
what kind of filtration do you have
any live rocks?
:happyfish :jumping:

I had to trade mine in from my 55. They are the meanest of them all. Mine was fine for the first five years, after that SHE got very nasty and territorial. I put in a new coral and the little snot would knock it over. (Took five times of me fixing it before I actually seen her do it!) I would say its time to say good bye.

Hahahahahaha! My maroon clown knocks over every coral I put in my tank! I had to buy coral epoxy so the little bugger wouldn't be able to budge them! And that thrashing thing? He does that constantly, particularly if I stand by the tank and if I put my hand in? Well I'm going to take a serious beating while I'm at whatever I'm at in there!

my maroon is also the sweetest, but she hates when I add new corals around her aread, I also had to epoxy 2 things because she booted them right off their spot until they fell in the sand...cracked me up. She also does the little swishy dance in the sand in her cave and has built up a hole right down to the bottom of the tank!

ya mine does the tall paddle to excavate the sand too, she doesnt knock over any corals, i added 2 firefish and they would swim 1" apart, she would sometimes let the cleaner shrimp hop on her and clean her.. shes the best fish ive ever had

Yea....mine thrashed at me with her tail also. It is the larger females that seem to be the most aggressive. Like I said, mine was a model citizen for 5yrs, after that, sent her packing. I hated to do it, she was my first fish.

Well, compared to your mean marroon clowns mines pretty nice
Probably because hes surrounded by a queen angel, two triggers, and a lion fish, and a crappy anemone (just a regular light on that tank). Soon once I start my 40 gallon reef tank, I plan on moving him into my 12 gallon nanocube with a really nice anemone all to himself!
