Tiny Creatures & Cocoon on Live Rock?

I have a 125 FOWLR set-up. My tank has been without fish since 3/6 due to a problem with ick. I only have 2 fish (1 Bannerfish, 1 blue damsel) that survived the ick and I treated with hyposalinity and am putting them back in the DT today. I noticed a few weeks ago what appeared to be some translucent, slightly whitish, matter on a 4" piece of live rock that has been in the tank about 2+ months. It almost looks like the cocoons that tent caterpillars come out of, though it's close to the rock surface and only slightly white. I removed the rock to a small plastic container and noticed something moving in the water. With a magnafying glass they look like tiny fish with a roundish head and skinny tail that they definitely use for mobility. I didn't see many, maybert 3 or 4. The cocoon is not very distinct and the swimming creatures are too small to even try to photograph. They look like very tiny fish to me, but the tank has been fishless 2 months. I have 3 cleaner shrimp, 1 coral banded shrimp, one Sally lightfoot, 4 or 5 emerald crabs, some snails, 3 feather dusters, 1 fairly long (harmless) bristleworm, 1 brittle star. Any idea what the cocoon and tiny creatures might be. Please tell me that they are not ick parasites. Appreciate any help. Thanks

The cacoon looking thing could be a sponge ... harmless filter feeder. The tiny fish like things could be epitokes .. developmental stage of bristleworms.
These are just guesses ... it's tough without pictures.
