what i had oringinally thought were calcium deposits are actually tiny feather dusters they are on my glass a little...and they are all over the rocks in the two back corners of my tank....what does this mean and how can i take care of the problem if in fact it is a problem?

I have them too. If you have some FD's in your tank, they quite often reproduce. If they're on the glass, you can pick them off and put them tail-end into the sand along the rock bed. they'll be fine. I had some in my Phos.Reactor. I picked them off and put them right back into the tank. The're still growing and blooming. I think it's a sign of a healthy tank if you ask me.
