Tiny little white creature...

I noticed these little things all over the walls of my aquarium, and as I began to study them closer I was fascinated. They are white, and their bodies are a snail-shaped spiral, and have little tiny tendrils/fans that extend from the end of them which I assume is a food collection method. What are these cute little critters called, and are they harmful or beneficial? How big do they get? And anything else you can answer me about these creatures. Here's a pic, sorry for the lack of quality but my camera isn't great at adjusting lighting and focus lol:

Welcome to the site!
Looks like a "pod." More specifically, an amphipod. They are harmless little hitchhiker that comes along with live rock, live sand, and even corals. You'll see them all over your tank, especially when you're first starting up a tank and using cured live rock. They don't get any bigger. They'll eat left over fish food and other debris around the aquarium.
For these and other hitchhikers that you might come across, check out this website: http://www.lionfishlair.com/hitchhiker/hitchhiker.shtml

That's not a pod...it's a Spirorbid fan worm. They are harmless, but if they obstruct your view, you can remove them with a scraper or the edge of an old credit card.
Here's a better pic:
