Tiny Starfish

I was cleaning my sump the other day and noticed that I have lots of baby starfish crawling around ontop of the mud. They are tiny serpent starfish looking, but they are white. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Will the die off since no food is available down there? How would they get there, I don't have a serpent starfish in my tank?:notsure:

This si totally normal. I think they go just about where they want. I have some also. I believe it is totally healthy.

HIya!,
In time, one will find all kinds of stuff in a sump. Different types of polychaete worms, ampipods, copepods, isopods, starfishes, anemones, etc... Some of that stuff is ok and will not hurt anything. Stuff like parasitic isopods or small anemones can be bad if they get into the display tank. Some starfish as well. Especially if you have Caribbean LR or Gulf LR (that includes Florida). Some species of starfish will destroy corals. THose are the ones found in the Gulf/Caribbean region. Personally, if I find something I am not sure about, I remove it.
