tiny white spots on plastic wall in tank

I'm seeing several tiny white spots (little bigger than ich spots) on the plastic parts of my 125-gallon reef tank (the plastic walls of the back overflows)... They feel crusty... there are 100s of them... very few of them on the back glass, too... they can be scraped off with an algae scraper though...
Any idea what this is? Is it something living? A parasite that will eventually come onto my fish?
The fish all look healthy...

Im not sure. I have them to. I have been told they are some kind of tiny worm. Iv had them for a while all over and have been told they wont do any harm. If the sight annoys you I guess you can scrape them off. Im sure someone else could say exaclty what. Id kinda like to know myself. :)

Leave them. This is what having a reef tank or FOWLR is all about.

Most likely these small coil shaped white things are Spirorbidae tube worms.
If you want to learn more - do a search on the internet.
Harmless filter feeders - and I agree with Beth - leave them there, they add diversity to the life in the tank.
Unless you can't stand them - then I guess you can scrape them off.
( finally got to reply to a question in the disease forum for once :) )

hey guys, those deposits on your tanks are calcium not worms. Not a problem, we all have them but they can be pain to get off. you will probably have to scrape them off the front but I wouldnt worry about the back or overflows.
Hope this helps,
Alex

So if those spots are there, does it mean there is too much calcium in the tank? My calcium is around 400...
