I need a new heater for my sump...after hearing all the horror stories about broken glass leading to electrical disasters in tanks, I'm ordering a fully submersible titanium heater
Any concerns about the metal in a reef system ???

hi
if you're worried about metal degradation
Forget it you won't live long enough for that to happen. The glass in your tank will disolve firast

I'm not afraid of metal degredation....I'm worried about possibility of metal leaching back into water and harming corals, fish etc.

There has been a discussion on titanium in the water after Shimik did a water analysis study on peoples tanks. It was considerably higher but too my knowledge there has been no adverse affects noted or attributed to the increase in titanium present in the water.
One point that someone made was interesting to me. That titanium is used freguently in the human body. Granded the grade of titanium is probably different but it eased my mind and took away any worry.
