To catch a tang!

Our Blue Hippo Tang has ich and I have been trying to get him out of the reef tank into our quarentine tank. I tried a trap and caught the rest of the fish but he won't go near it. Tried the food in the net trick but he won't come out of his rock when the net is near. Pulled his rock out of the tank twice and tried to pull him out by the tail but both times he was wedged so hard in his hole I would have pulled his tail off before I got him out. Bought two cleaner shrimp but he doesn't let them clean him. We are using Kick-Ich but that doesn't seem to be helping anymore. Any ideas?

Yeah, when he goes into his rock, just lift the rock out of the tank [with him in it] and transfer it over to the QT. When he comes out of the rock in the QT, then you can remove the rock and proceed with hypo.

Im not sure if it will work but I have seen that ffexpress sells fish traps that you place in your tank and the fish will go inside the trap and get caught there. maybe you can place it in the cave he goes in and try to get your blue hipo with the net and chase him into the trap inside the cave.

My quarentine tank has had copper in it so that is not an option and the rock is worth more than the tang. Besides you'd never get the rock back out of quarentine without him in it.

put the rock in a 5 gallon bucket with him. or im sure once he is out of the water he will flop every which way and you can get him out.

You could put a tesselata eel in the tank for a little while. He will get the tang out of the rock for you. Cure the ich too. But, you would have to get a new tang.
No, but that is the problem with fish in a reef. I can never catch mine to hypo them in a quarantine tank. My display is just too big, and the fish are too fast with too many places to hide.
