To cycle or not to cycle QT tank?

Hi all I have a Question about QTs.
I have a baby hippo tang about 1 1/2 inches that came down with ich :)
it is in amy 125 gal. I am upgrading to a 240 so I took to other fish out and moved then over to the big tank. I was feeding garlic but it would keep coming back.
so my thought is should I do Hypo on the whole tank. no inverts i know.)
or set up a QT I have an extra 20 gal around.
if I use my good tank h2o with a PH and samll filter will I need to cycle the QT?
if I should cycle it any guess on who long it will take, I put a small pice of LR in there.
now on to treatment if I use the 20 as a QT I was thinking about the kick ich stuff
becuaus it will be more effective on the smaller tank. or I could save the fish the stress of QT him and take out all the rock and CC and to the meds on the`125.
OR just do Hypo in the 125
thanks for any feed back :help:

humm as I read this it seams like doing hypo on the whole tank might be the best.

Well, with the fish that you moved over to the other tank, now the other tank has ich! Yes, move the fish back, and hypo all fish, minus LR, inverts, of course.
