To much filtration?

I keep noticing my red coraline turning gray or brown. Is it possible I have to much bio filtration in my system?
I have 7 tanks most of them around 11 gallons each plumbed into a single large bio filter of about 40 gallons. It has a large bio wheel and charcoal. Added to that each tank has its own individual HOB filter that handles about 100+ gallons an hour running only bio filtration.
Would all of this bio filtering be taking nutrients from my coraline algae?

No. Since Coraline is a calcorous aglae it needs good caclium and alkalinity to grow. I'd say check those two.
