To Remove or Not to Remove...

Good Morning,

I have a question: I am now about 2.5 years into my salt water tanks. Over that time many hermits and snails have come and gone, but the shells remain. Is there a pro or con to removing or not removing the shells?

I would appreciate any and all opinions.

If you are going to have Hermits then it's good to have spare shells around for them. If not then it's personal preference if you want to look at them or not.
