To skim or not to skim

I have a mud filter with calerpa. I have no skimmer but been cotemplating adding one.
The manufacturer of the mud filter states that you dont need one.
My phos is 0, nitrate 0. I have a slight problem with PH being on the low end 8.0- 8.1. I think is coming from excess carbon dioxide in the tank. I was thinking that by adding a skimmer, the extra aggitation in the water would eliminate some of it.
Do you guys recommend adding one. What do you think the benefits of adding one would be.

Your PH is fine but IMO add a skimmer anyway... they are good to have no matter the system. Even Bang Guy has a skimmer and he has a 900g lagoon hooked up to his tank!!

I decided I will give the skimmer a try. I'm thinking of getting the AquaC Remora Pro.
Any of you guys have it? Do you like it?

I have it... I love it... try and get the skimmer with a Mag 3 or Mag 5... the Maxi Jet 1200 that i have does an ok job... a buddy has 1 with the mag 3 and is getting ALOT more skimmate out of his tank.. I'll be upgrading very soon!

imo, you should always skim, why let dissolved organics float around your system to become bad stuff later, just let the skimmer rip it out.

I've spent all day measuring and trying to find a way to fit the AquaC Pro, but seems I dont have the room. I have a 54 gallon corner tank so putting anything in the refuge is a major task.
I might have to end up getting the AquaC Remora with a MaxiJet 1200. Has anybody had experience with this one? Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

i heard a mag 3 or something as a mag is better, i heard you get more stuff out of the water, look into mag 3 or a mag 7 if i were you

In a 55 gallon or smaller tank I think the remora with the MJ1200 is enough, you don't have to go with the remora pro with the mag pump.

I'd add a skimmer regardless what filtration setup your using on your system....Can't hurt, and can't overskim it
