Have not seen this with my little Toadstool before. Yesterday he turned all white and was totally closed up. He looked dead, the little critter was pure white. I thought he had bleached. Today he seems to be coming back out OK. I know they occasionally shed. But is this closed and all white something I just do not remember happing before . Is this normal???

not normal IMO. sounds like a bacterial infection, the whiteness is probably caused by necrotic (dead) tissue on the surface of the coral. check your water quality, run some carbon, dont move or touch him (if you can help it)that could stress it out more. if you can, gently increase flow in his region, but dont blast him with it. not much else you can do except maybe check your iodine levels and dose (not potasium Iodide, lugols would be better but use it very cautiously as lugols is FAR stronger than potasium iodide.) if you can afford a little extra Iodine in your system for its antiseptic qualities (or consider an Iodine dip).

just wait and see if it happens again. do you have small critters that will attack it aka hermit crabs or maybe the occational peppermint shrimp. because its happened to me ive seen it they go up and pinch it and the thing starts to close(hermit makes a hasty escape) then for like a day its all white and closed up. if you want you can iodine dip it just to be safe.
