Toadstool leather questions

Do toadstools smell like a dead snail when theyre dying? Is this smell "chemical warfare" going on?It deflates and inflates but not all the way.There also seems to be some tiny white spots that peel off. The smell seems to be coming from the location of the Toadstool when Im standing over the tank.Theres no dead snails.I checked.

I am not aware of specific "chemical warfare" smells but rotting leathers do stink...a lot

not good...I would do a search on this board for leathers...dying leathers... There is a ton of info already posted and it would be faster than me re-typing.
