Toadstool - not opening during day

I have a neon green toadstool. I moved him recently to make room for an open brain. Since then, he has sporadically opened. Mostly he opens at night. Any ideas?

Maybe getting less flow? My regular toadstools get very angry and take a long time to reopen happily but my green one seems easier to please, if it's only been a few days I would wait it out and then try moving to a different area.

Well this is the second time I moved him. His original location is in the photo below (location 1). I needed to move the open brain off of the rock and the only place I could put the open brain was location 1. I moved the toadstool to location 2 and he did not open up. I then moved him to location 3 (his current location) and he has still not reopened.

I moved him back to position 1. I moved the brain to position 2 and position 3 is now available real estate. Lets hope he opens back up.

They don't like being moved, leave it in one spot for at least a week before you get all hasty about it.

OK, thanks. Today his cap is kinda shiny. Not sure if that means he is going to shed. I read that shedding is due to stress. Is that true?

I am not an expert by no means, but a little brain storming. I am currently trying to save a GSP colony and I don't know why it is melting. One common factor you and I both have is the coral was in close proximity to a hydroflo. I know some corals like a strong flow, but could the constant on and off spurts of water over the coral be causing them stress?
Once again, I am not an expert but I wanted to throw that idea out there and see some more experienced reefers responces.
Good luck,
Chris

Sounds like shedding, normal, especially when moved. The random flow shouldn't bother it, that's the kind of flow you want.

So I used a turkey baster to gently wash the cap. I am not sure if I got anything off, but it doesn't look shiny anymore. Still has not opened.

So I did some more examining. Here are a couple of pics. There seems to be a film around him that is green tinted. Also, there is a discoloration on the bottom of his stock. Any ideas? I am getting worried.
