Toadstool Question

Ok, I just recieved my corals 3 days ago and I am wondering if toadstools are supposed to do this? It came out of the bag like this and I put it at the top of my tank, but it appeared to bend over even more. So now it's at the bottom.

looks like its top heavy. what u can do is cut it half way down the trunk and leave it on a rock where it will reattach itself. or i hv seen some people do, hang them up side down for like 2-3 days. the latter idea i hv never use myself. good luck!

no, cut the stalk across like you were cutting a tree down. To cut right down the middle will cause too much damage and it might not recover. Cut it across the stalk and it will re adhere to another or the same rock if given time to heal.

about halfway down, maybe more and use a VERY sharp knife, or blade or exacto knife, scalpel, so that the cut is CLEAN and not ragged. Make sure you do not cut back and forth but one or 2 swipes. then toothpick the NEW base to a rock and rubber band it on a rock and let it adhere to it.

I would just leave it alone personally, all my toadstools do that occansionally, usually if I move them or mess with the tank too much and they always stand back up in a couple days, that isn't an extremely large one and should be able to support itself just fine.

Sorry cleanershrmpfan and petjunkie I read your posts too late. But here it is. How long will it be until I can take off the rubber band and toothpick?

You stick the toothpick thru the base?
ouchie....I can hear it screaming already with being cut and poked!

Seriously....the question was legit as I may end up having to do this to mine!?

Anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks and keep all parts of it, I've had toadstools grow back from almost nothing.

You had no real need to cut that sarco, it was only acclimating to your system or sloughing both are stressful and common, you subjected it to unnecessary stress IMO. If it is healthy it will be fine though. Try researching a bit more before doing something liek this to your next coral.
Best of luck.
