Toilet Paper

Dear Great Oracle (or whoever has the wisdom),
I have a question concerning toilet paper. Which came first, 1 ply or 2 ply?. If 1 ply came first, and 2 ply was the upgrade (think swf.com v.1 and then v.2), then I can fully understand.
But if 2 ply was first, then 1 ply came out as the "cost saver", its not funny. My bum hurts after using 1 ply. Why would you do something like that?
While my therapist says that eventually I will get over this, I need to know so I can move on with my life.
Pls advise me so I know who I need to speak to if further action is needed.
Ur Pal,

Dude. At this place I used to work.. municipal so it's not like they didn't have money to spend on TP... I swear to baby Jesus the TP still had chunks of wood in it. Seriously. Like they got halfway through the paper-making process and just said

[hr]
it.

Anyone remember the brand name of the TP that was in a Saturday Night Live bit that could "take the finish off of a baseball bat, and still handle a bear in the woods" it is an old one going way back

I think 1 ply is for the people with septics, oh and 2 ply's leave TP dust.

Porta-potties, public bathrooms to discourage use, etc...
So you see CFR, 1 ply has it's benefits, and if you ever have outa town familiy come stay with you for to long, then you will learn real quick the benefits of 1 ply.
