Toilet, Toilet, Toilet

That's my new set up overflow boxes sound like!
I had a 110g with the two boxes and used flexible hose (like form hot tub). and the gurgle buster.
However, I since upgraded to a 220g and I plumbed it with pvc.
It sounds like 10 toilets flushing NONSTOP.
I looked at Herbies suggestion (basically let the water in the pvc backfill so that the water drain doesn't drop so far.
Any other ideas!!???

I actually tried that but it wouldn't fit so I have been using a gurgle buster and it had been good until I moved to my 220g.

Check out a stockman overflow much smaller footprint than the durso but same concept. I modified my Stockman with a brass needle valve to help adjust the air intake. Looks like is very similar to the gurgle buster but for $5 in parts it's worth a shot to try it.

just get a couple pieces of tubing and run them down the pipes a bit. the air will be sucked through them instead of with the water. i was going to build durso pipes, but i ended up being satisfied with this simple fix. you'll have to adjust the tube up and down until you get it in the right depth to silence the toilet sound.

i have durso pipes and still have the same noise so I took an extra line I hade from when I built my rodi and atached <sp? a air silencer from a super skimmer to it and shoved down the pipes

With Durso pipes if you have that flushing sound going on you need to make the little drilled hole larger. The size of the drilled hole is different for each system so start small and make it larger. Eventually you'll find the size that makes everything silent.

Some people with lower flow rates do not have issues with using standpipes. With a higher flow rate through them like you likely have now, there will be much more noise created. The flushing noise is caused by not enough air entering the standpipe. Too much air and you get a sucking sound. The fix is really simple either way. Take a 3/8 in ID tubing and insert it about 1 in into the tube below the water line. (That's 1in below the water line. Then run this tubing under the stand if you have a closed stand. Wallah! If you don't have a closed stand, there are a few different ways to deal with the noise. IMO, one of the simplest ways is to insert the hose into a milk jug. Just let it lay in there and it will muffle the noise.
Herbie's design would likely be a much quieter resolve yet.
I use a stockman with a piece of acrylic rubber banded on top. My airline runs through this and down into the water line. The acrylic piece on top allows me to remove it easily once a month a swab out the standpipe.

ok. now, this was meant to be a temporary thing, but just pay attention to the concept. the air is drawn in the airhose, and not with the water. this is completely quiet.

How far down does that airline go?
I actually had the gurgle buster which is somewhat the same principle as the durso, but completely vertical.
I redid my piece that had the drilled holes and and made the holes a little smaller and it raised the water flow just enough in the overflow box so that it's not bringing air in wit the water.

Put a ball valve somewhere in the plumbing before the sump drain. You can use that to "burp" it a bit. Basically you cut back the flow until you get about a trickle and slowly let the flow go again. The plumbing will fill up with water and the air will be mostly gone to avoid that sucking sound.
I have durso pipes too though, so that helps me, but sometimes when I get things going after changing out some water, my overflows get that and burping it helps.
