Toms PS3 Leaking out of breather hole?

I have a Tom's PS3 Wet/Dry Filter. This filter has worked well, but there is a 1/4" hole on the top maybe for a breather or vent? My problem is I get a sponge full of water that leaks out of it every day? If I plug the hole it will leak out the side, anyone else have this problem. I put a straw in the hole and it shot little drips of water out the top of a full length straw. Very little like three drops in five minutes, but that adds up. If I don't put a sponge by the hole it will end up dripping down the side of the filter and then onto the floor. I've attached two pictures and circled the hole. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the same filter and have been pretty happy with it once I got the skimmer running right. Are you sure that the water is not coming from the overflow box? I don't get any water at all coming up thru that little hole.
Is their anything preventing the water from flowing out the little ramp thing and down thru the filters?

Yes, it is a breather hole. It is shooting water because there is too much pressure for that small hole. You have two options, the way I see it.
1. Find the source of the excessive air pressure in your wet dry and fix it. (this would be my first choice)
2. Make a bigger hole so that the force of air leaving the filter is not strong enough to "blow water".

Thanks for the answers. I pop the lid on the filter area just a little bit, and this fixed the problem. I could actually feel air coming out of the hole, and then I popped the lid a little and it was fine. I am curious what would be making this excessive amount of pressure, I have no idea what it could possibly be, any ideas?
