Too many fire shrimp?

I have a 29 gallon reef tank. I currently have one fire shrimp. It is my favorite type of shrimp and I want to add more. How many could I get away with in my 29 gallon? I was hoping for 3, but is that too many? I have plenty of rock with lots of hiding places. I will post a picture tomorrow.

It all depends on the temperment and how long this one has been by itself. All shrimp are territorial, but they will often form pairs. You could try another one and see how it goes. If they don't get along, consider returning them and adding two smaller ones at the same time, this way it will be easier for them to form a pair. 3 would probably be too much, but you should be able to do 2 if they form a pair.

I have had the one for awhile now. Back before I lost everything in my tank I had a fire and a skunk cleaner, and I never actually saw them fight, but I assume they did because once I added the skunk, the fires antennas looked they were getting cut off. They would grow back, but then get cut short again. I assume the skunk was the one doing it. Perhaps I would have a better chance of them forming a pair by adding another fire shrimp with the one I have now. I will give it a try and if they get along I will just stick with 2 then! Thanks for the advice!

Nice setup! Hopefully two shrimp work for you. I love that you've made the Aussie Hammer your show piece

Thank you! The hammer had to be my show piece for a couple reasons; he's my favorite, he cost too much not to be, and he's so big that he doesn't fit anywhere else! Lol
