is it possible to have to much? i have a 55 gal with a 29 gal fuge on the bottom. i have a dual overflow box and a rio 12hf for the return. i also have a protein skimmer in there with a rio 2100 on it. everything i buy i want to buy big so that way i will always be able to upgrade the size of the tank. im sorry if this question is kinda dumb but i was just wandering.

Not a dumb question at all, that sounds like a great set up! With the way algae can grow at times one has to wonder if we should all have 29 gal tanks with 55 gal fuges! :notsure: In all seriousness though, I dont think you can have to big of a fuge or sump. The more gallons you add to your system the better. In a real reef for every chunk of live rock the size of your fist there is millons and millons of gallons of water. Dilution is the best filter, in the wild or in your reef(water changes). Make sure you have the right stuff in your fuge.
