Too much of a temperature Swing?

I just got a new Metal Halide and now my tank will go from 79 Degrees to 80.8 Degrees in the matter of 5 Hours. My house temp is around 70 consistent. Should I be concerned about a 2 degree fluctuation?

I wouldnt... IME I have had 2 degree swing morning to evening light schedule, and have had no ill effects. 4 to 5 in that amount of time then I would say you might see issues. JMO

That is fine. BUT with summer coming you MIGHT want to look into a chiller or more fans.

that is my main concern with the 75 gal in my kitchen. It's in the line of direct sunlight if I keep the windows uncovered. So far I haven't had more than a 2 degree temp swing. I'm considering switching the halides to T5 and moving all the SPS corals to the tank downstairs.

I used to be really concerned about constants in my tank and temp was very important. I calculated it well so that my tank would never swing more than 1 degree through the use of a fan on a timer. That fan has since broken and I no longer use it. My tank now swings from 80-84 by the time the lights go out. I have a few sps and softies and all my corals seem to actually be doing better since the fan broke. I don't have any scientific data or anything but "my" tank so far seems to handle, what I consider a large swing, very well.

i notice you live in wisconsin, i doubt you have 100 degree= days at least not many of them they have these little clip on fans and if you are too worried about your temp position one on the side of the tank and have it blow across the top of the length of the tank between the lights and water and make sure to keep the 'vents' on your lights fans clear of dust build up so they will continue to work well
