Too Much Oxygen?

Hello All,
Currently I am running a 33gal QT. I have an Aquaclear 50 running at 75%. Also, I have an 100gal Aerator pump running 40-50% through air stones. There is no other water movement in the QT. Is there too much oxygen in the tank? I didn't think you could have too much oxygen, except microbubbles and there are none in the tank. Thanks

how much is too much when it comes to microbubbles. im having a little microbubble issue with my new tank build and i need a point to say ok thats as good as its going to get.

Mkzimms, it depends on your build. The first place to check is your Protein Skimmer for microbubbles. You will need to adjust your outflow of the PS. I had a problem with microbubbles also and all it took was an adjustment for the PS. Also, you may want to move your PS outflow away from the inflow of the sump pump. That will help eliminate the problem. Last for the PS is to put some sort of filter or sponge on the outflow to collect microbubbles. Now the other problem it could be is that there might be a place where oxygen is getting into the tubing where the sump pump is pushing water from your sump to your DT. Other than that, I would have to know more about your build.
As a side note, microbubbles are bad because they can get inside the gills of your fish, create air pockets and kill them. So if they are minimal and away from the normal swim patterns of the fish, you should be alright. That being said, you should try to eliminate them as much as possible.

i have no skimmer setup yet. all plumbing has been double pvc cemented and sealed with silicone so i know they are not coming in through a venturi effect. when my drain dumps into the sump my bubble traps catch the larger bubbles but i can watch the smaller "micro-micro bubbles" make they're way under the traps all the way across the sump and back into the inlet of the pump. I cant get rid of the, they look almost like dust in a sunny room. Very Very small bubbles. i am getting a lot of turbulance in the overflow chamber cusing the bubbles. I have tried everything from filter socks, s-tubes, ball valves... you name it. nothing has worked, no matter what very small bubbles are making they're way across and ending up back in the DT.

As long as there are no bubbles in the DT your fine. Thats why you have the bubble trape after the intake.

I see your point. For the moment, the only thing I could add would be to add a few more sponges or Filter Floss in the over flow chambers. Have you tried Filter Floss before? You can find it at most Fish Pet Stores, or your LFS might have it as well.
I am not sure how much room you have underneath the underflow chamber, but I would recommend putting one there too. That way it will go through 2-3 filter media. Also, now this is purely speculative, are there different kinds of socks which allow less oxygen to travel through them; I personally have no idea about that, but it could have a happy ending.

IMO any micro bubbles are too many as often microbubbles will get trapped in sponges and kill them. I collect sponges in a minor way so microbubbles are a big fear for me. but over all for most creatures they arent really a threat just possibility of collecting air pockets under and in rocks as well as being unsightly.
