Too much water flow?

I have a 75 gal tank. My flow consists of 3 powerheads and a pump which together equeal 1788gph which is 24 times my tank volume. The water surface is like a vigerous boil (well, maybe not quite vigerous, but one step down from vigerous lol)
Ive heard 10-15x tank volume is good, but can there be too much? Im only asking this question now because I just got another powerhead, and I can take out one of the small ones if I have too much.
Also, my tank is starting to look cluttered with equipment, theres only 5 or so inches of water in my sump, can the heater go there or does there need to be more water in the sump to be able to put the heater there?

My feeling is that you are good with what you have. What you want to achieve with water flow, is make sure there is good water movement all over the tank. At the bottom, in the corners, surface, etc. If you have that, then its good.
Going to move your topic to a hobby related forum since this is actually the off-topic forum you posted in. :hi:

Flow in your tank will need to be addressed If you are keeping corals you don’t want the flow so strong that you encourage sweeper tentacles which can sting near by corals

What are sweeper tentacles and do all corals have them? none of my current corals are touching at the moment, theres at the very least 4" between the closest ones.
I do plan on taking out one of my 270gph ph to use it to circulate batches of new water, I guess if I start seeing them look like theyre getting stung, ill take out my 500gph & put the 270gph back in.

Yes all corals have tentacles of varying length, corals such as hammer and frog spawn can develop long sweeping tentacles when placed in areas of strong water movement. Below is a pic I took some time ago of a stinging sweeper in my tank

A guy told me of a giant frogspawn he had! It had a 15ft reach with its sweeper....all the way across the tank it would sting something. Not all coral have sweeper tenticles but some LPS do, SPS grow tall or spread out to block light from other coral, and softies put out a toxin or spit their guts out to defend or attack! Kinda why mixed reefs can be dangerous lol!

The water quantity is quite enough but you must see the water flow first. There might be some problem from there other wise in my opinion the tank size and the water capacity are quite enough.

Thank you. I have removed one of the ph. im using it to mix my new sw now. The water still looks like its boiling & the corals seem to like it better )
