too much wax

i have this unidentified leather in my tank that keeps waxing up. i have been moving it closer and closer to a powerhead in an attempt to keep the wax off. i cant move it any closer because i have other coral there. is there anything else besides not enough flo that causes them to wax up so frequently?

Is it always waxed up or go through phases?
I have 4 of the same leathers on the bottom of my tank spread out. Some are in full bloom while others are shriveled up... later others are -- growing like crazy but not always open.

it became waxed up and stayed waxed up so long last time that there appearred to be algae begginning to grow on it (about 3 or 4 weeks) and i didn't know what else to do so i took it out and gave it an iodine dip. tons of wax blew off when i put it back in. it opened up and was beautiful for about 2 weeks and then closed up and waxed up again. it was a fairly large piece when i bought it (about 8 inches wide and 4 tall) if there has been any growth it hasn't been much. i have 2 other species of leather with no problems.

Sounds like something is irriating it... possibly toxins off the other leathers? Really have no idea without more info.... water parameters, etc -- although weird other leathers are just fine.
